Investment Analyst / Associate – Africa-Focused Private Equity | Johannesburg

 

We're exclusively recruiting for a rare opening at a well-established, Africa-focused private equity firm based in Johannesburg. If you know anything about PE, you'll know these seats don't open up often. This is one of those opportunities.

 

The firm invests across Africa's fastest-growing economies through a combination of direct investments and fund allocations, managing capital from various sources.

 

The Role:

 

You'll be part of a lean investment team, working on deal evaluation, financial modelling, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, investor reporting, and sector research. This is proper, hands-on PE work where you'll be close to the action from day one.

 

The base salary for this role ranges from R500,000 to R1,000,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is benchmarked, fixed, and not negotiable. Incentives sit on top of this, but the base is the base. If your salary expectations are above this range, this isn't the right opportunity for you.

 

Who They're Looking For

 

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, management/strategy consulting, corporate finance, accounting, or asset management
• Strong academic record – undergraduate and postgraduate (this will be verified)
• Excellent financial modelling and valuation skills
• Sharp analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and real commercial awareness
• Strong communication skills – written and verbal
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and across teams

 

For context, this is a 2–4 year experience-level hire. The real value here is the platform, the exposure, and where a role like this can take your career. PE seats in Africa are scarce and highly sought after.
