A banking group is seeking an exceptional Head of Data, Analytics, and MI.

This isn't just another data leadership role...

You'll lead a specialised team that uses cutting-edge analytics to:

• Crack complex fraud syndicates operating in South Africa
• Drive data projects
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the project and business stakeholders to develop an understanding of business strategy and objective and identify implications to define the data modeling goals for the designated areas
• Develop and maintain Compliance data strategy incorporating project and BAU needs, future trends and interlocks with technology partners
• Provide leadership to teams for approach to data acquisition, data mining and overall responsibilities to deliver to stakeholders 
• Design, develop and establish relevant frameworks, models and business practices to drive data centric approach to understanding current business problems/ opportunities with the provision of input into solutions
• Accountability for approach and methodology for building and maintaining of analytical tools to generate insights, predict behaviour and recognise patterns
• Collaborate with business and technology teams to analyse customer data requirements
• Oversee maintenance of data sets to successfully identify, integrate and execute initiatives
• Explore opportunities in disruptive approaches and technology to grow a data-centric culture
• Work with internal and third-party sources to obtain and process data for visualisation of MI and analytical insights
• Work with team on understanding requirements and translate these into trackable analytical problems relaying results in everyday business language with decision-making implications
• Establish and implement a quality framework and processes for data processes and deliverables of the team
• Provide insight into opportunities for enhancing data processes to include information relevant to building analytic systems
• Data Governance and Control
• Drive understanding of frameworks, sources of data and data flows
• Ensure the accuracy of data collected and ensure data governance required is met and adhered to
• Participate in data governance forums and teams as required
• Drive data governance responsibilities across all pieces of work
• Develop and maintain relationships with key Project and Business stakeholders to drive Change data strategy and execution
• Provide business-oriented insights and articulate how solutions can support these
• Provide leadership and input into Compliance Change team to drive delivery of strategic objectives
• Drive a way of working where data informs business decisions to deliver both short term benefits as well as long term sustainable growth and customer value
• Develop and share knowledge and best practices with the analytical, technical and business community in the and build relationships with wider analytics community
• Provide insights on our leading edge, advanced analytics insights and capabilities and data driven culture where relevant
• People Management
• Perform people management function for a team of driven data specialists
• Coach and Mentor data specialists
• Guide direction and priorities of the team
• Transform vast amounts of data into actionable intelligence
• Develop predictive models that stay one step ahead of financial crime patterns

The ideal candidate brings:

• 10+ years of experience executing technology or change projects with significant data components
• Strategic vision to revolutionise how data can be used to fight crime
• Leadership experience mentoring high-performing data specialists
• Advanced analytical expertise and a passion for solving complex puzzles
• The ability to translate complex data insights into clear business strategies
